Admissions :
Admission to MSc in Computer Science 2015 (Belur Campus)

Eligibility to Apply :
Students of BSc Hons or BTech in computer science/engineering, BTech in any other discipline with a Diploma in Computer Science, or Bachelor in Computer Applications from any recognized University/Institute with 60% marks in aggregate (in the case of Hons students: 60% in Hons subject) will be eligible to apply.

Admission for MSc Computer Science in Belur Math campus is open for male candidates only.

Important Dates :
Candidates submitting applications before 18 July are to appear in the admission test on 19 July.
Candidates submitting applications after that are to appear in the admission test of 1 August.
Candidates who are in the waiting list from the first admission test and those who submit their applications after 18 July will be considered on 2 August.

Admission :
18 July 2015, Saturday : Last date for receiving applications for admission
19 July 2015, Sunday : Written admission test from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (2 hrs)
20 July 2015, Monday by 11 am : Announcement (in our website and through a notice at our Belur main campus) of shortlisted candidates to be called for interview
21 July 2015, Tuesday from 10 am : Interview for shortlisted candidates. Results will be announced on the same day of the interview and admission process will begin thereafter

Waiting List & Late Admission :
31 July 2015, Friday : Last date for receiving applications for late admission
1 Aug 2015, Saturday : Written admission test from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (2 hrs)
2 Aug 2015, Sunday by 11 am : Announcement (in our website and through a notice at our Belur main campus) of shortlisted candidates to be called for interview
3 August 2015, Monday from 10 am : Interview for shortlisted candidates. Results will be announced on the same day of the interview and admission process will begin thereafter
6 August 2015: Classes begin

How to Apply :
Application forms and Admit Card can either be downloaded from the links given at the bottom on this page or collected from the University’s central office at Belur (just outside the Belur Math main gate). Please read the instructions printed in the application form carefully. All the relevant information of the application must be duly filled and submitted along with a fee of Rs.300/-. It can be either a demand draft for Rs 300/- made in favour of ‘Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University’ payable at Belur Math, Howrah, (preferably UBI or SBI) or by cash. Completed application forms can be submitted in any of the following ways as given below.

Send the completed application form with the demand draft to the following address by 18 July 2015

Submit the completed form in person with the demand draft or cash to the University’s central office at Belur by 18 July 2015.

Send the completed application preferably in pdf format by email to: cs [at] rkmvu [dot] ac [dot] in. Bring a printout of the completed application form and printout of the email sent to us along with the demand draft or cash to the University’s central office at Belur on the day of the entrance test before 12:00 pm.

Applicants have to duly fill the admit card details and bring it on the day of admission test. Please do not submit the admit card along with your application

Topics for Admission Test :
C, C++, Data Structures and algorithms, Automata Theory, Operating systems, Database, Digital Logic, Permutations and combinations, Propositional Logic, Set Theory, Probability. Sample question paper is available for download.

Course Fee :
Admission process shall begin immediately after the interview. Those candidates permitted and willing to take admission may get admitted immediately by paying a total amount of Rs 3900/- (tution fee of Rs 3600/- for the first semester plus admission fee of Rs 300/- (one time)). Selected candidates have to take admission by paying the requisite fees on or before 25 July 2015. Those who fail to take admission before the stipulated date without explicit permission from the authority will run the risk of forfeiting their admission.

Hostel Facility :
Limited number of seats for male candidates are available in the hostel attached to the Institution campus. Students requiring admission to hostels have to apply separately. Hostel fees: Rs 500/- seat rent per month plus approximately Rs 2500/- for meal charges (variable as per the mess system). Those selected for the hostel will be informed separately.

Laboratory work is a compulsory part of the programme. The academic content has been chosen in order to infuse passion for excellence in the learners and the teachers. Every student is subject to a process of continuous evaluation comprising periodic assignments, quizzes, presentations, group discussions, and of course written examinations. We believe that this comprehensive approach can really motivate the student to strive for cultivation of knowledge with the professional career coming as a by-product.
