IMU Lateral Entry B.Tech Entrance Test

Indian Maritime University invites applications from eligible candidates fulfilling the educational and other eligibility criteria for the above mentioned UG programs Lateral Entry admissions at its Visakhapatnam campus. The duration of the above academic programs will be three academic years consisting of six semesters of course work. Last Date for submission of application is 5th July 2024.

Age Limit of Lateral Entry B.Tech

i) There is no minimum age limit criteria for admission into the above programs.
ii) Maximum age:
For Male : Gen-25 years, OBC (NCL)-28 years, SC/ST-30 years.
For Female : Gen -27 years, OBC (NCL)-30 years, SC/ST-32 years.
For Others (Transgender): 2 years more than the age for the above mentioned female categories.
The reference date for calculation of the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session (i.e. 01-08-2024).

Educational Qualifications of Lateral Entry B.Tech

a. 4-years Diploma in Ship Building Engineering with at least 60% marks overall and should have completed the diploma within the stipulated period of 4 years AND a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th examination.
Or
b. 3-years Diploma in Mechanical / Civil Engineering from any institute approved by AICTE with at least 60% marks overall and should have completed the diploma within the stipulated period of 3 years AND a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th examination.
Or
c. 3-years Diploma in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering with at least 60% marks overall and should have completed the diploma within the stipulated period of 3 years AND a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th examination.
Or
d. 3-years B.Sc. (Ship Building & Repair) with at least 60% marks overall and should have completed the degree within the stipulated period of 3 years AND a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th examination.

Application Fees

** An Application Fee for Rs.1000/- for all other candidates and Rs.700/- for SC/ST candidates only to be paid along with the submission of filled in application in the form of Demand Draft payable at Visakhapatnam drawn in favour of Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam campus.
** Applications without the appropriate DD will be rejected.

Fee Particulars:
The candidates are instructed to pay the following fee at the time of reporting to IMU, Visakhapatnam campus for formal registration:
I. An Admission Registration/Counselling fee of Rs.10, 000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) through a Demand Draft in favour of Indian Maritime University, payable at Visakhapatnam.
II. Rs.30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand only) towards Programme Fee through Demand Draft in favour of Indian Maritime University, payable at Visakhapatnam.

III. The Semester fee of Rs.1,22,500/- (Rupees One Lakh Twenty Two Thousand Five Hundred Only) should be paid at the campus for 3rd semester fee on the day of registration through a Demand Draft in favour of Indian Maritime University, payable at Visakhapatnam.

IV. An amount of Rs.30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand only) should be paid at the campus as Caution Deposit (refundable) through a Demand Draft in favour of Indian Maritime University, payable at Visakhapatnam.
V. Balance fee for 2nd year (i.e. 4th semester), to be paid in the beginning of the fourth semester, sometime in January 2025.

How to Apply for Lateral Entry B.Tech?

** Interested candidates should download the application form, fill and submit the same along with Demand Draft, self-attested copies of certificates and mark-sheets by ORDINARY/ SPEED/ REGISTERED POST ONLY so as to reach the following address on or before 5th July 2024.

Kindly note: DO NOT SEND THE FILLED-IN APPLICATION THROUGH COURIER.

**A Google Form is to be compulsorily filled by the candidate with the same details as filled in the application. The link of the Google form is as given below:

** The applications received will be scrutinised and valid applicant candidates shall be issued intimation by way of telephonic call and/or email to appear for the Entrance Test
** All applicants are advised to constantly keep checking their mail and keep the mobile numbers active till the completion of the process of lateral entry admission as all intimations regarding any updates shall be sent only through these media.
** No postal communication will be sent in this regard from the university.

As indicated before, in the event of an Entrance Test being conducted, the following shall details shall apply:
a. Date for conduct of the Lateral Entry Entrance Test: 13-07-2024 (Saturday).
Time of the Entrance Test: 1030 – 1230 hrs.
Venue of the Entrance Test: IMU Visakhapatnam campus,
Gandhigram, Near Scindia Junction.
(It is about 8 km from the Visakhapatnam Main Railway Station).

b. The Entrance Test shall be by way of physical pen & paper mode. There is no online test provision.
c. The candidates will be required to report at IMU, Visakhapatnam Campus for appearing the above Entrance Test at their own expenses of traveling and boarding. IMU shall not reimburse any such amount incurred by the candidate/s.
