Ph.D Qualifying Entrance Examination QEE

Bharat RatnaDr.M.G. Ramachandran Centenary Research Fellowship is available to the Meritorious scholars who enroll for Ph.D. full time in the University Departments. Candidates who have passed Master’s Degree through Open University system are not eligible, Candidates who have secured their Master’s Degree and M.Phil. with 55% or its equivalent grade of marks (relaxation of 5% of marks to SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer)/differently abled under (10+2)+3+2 pattern of courses of study shall be eligible for Ph.D. programme.

Instruction to Candidates for Qualifying Entrance Exam

1. Candidates are instructed to read the Ph.D. Regulations w.e.f. 01.01.2023 for Ph. D. Programme given in our official website www.msuniv.ac.in.
2. Qualifying Entrance Examination is mandatory for admission to Ph. D. Programme. This is being conducted twice a year.
3. Candidates with fellowship/scholarship in UGC- NET/UGC–CSIR NET/ GATE/ CEED/SET qualifications are exempted from Qualifying Entrance Examination. However they have to register for Interview/Counselling.
4. A pass in the Qualifying Entrance Examination is valid for one session only.
5. Qualifying Entrance Examination Fee is Rs.2,000/- and Interview/Counselling Fee is Rs.3,000/-
6. The Online registration for Ph.D. Programme admission will be permitted twicea year i.e, January and July sessions.
7. Qualifying Entrance Examination result shall be downloaded by the candidates as soon as the results are published from the Website using their register number / phone number as login ID.
8. Final Mark Statement of PG and Community Certificate is mandatory for Ph. D. online Registration.

9. Bharat RatnaDr.M.G.Ramachandran Centenary Research Fellowshipamountof Rs.5,000/- per month (other than scholars getting fellowship from other funding agencies) will be awarded for the academic year to the top ranking Ph. D. full time scholars doing research in the University Departments,.based on their Entrance mark 70% and PG mark 30%.

10. Candidates who have passed Master’s Degree through Open University system are not eligible, Candidates who have secured their Master’s Degree and M.Phil. with 55% or its equivalent grade of marks (relaxation of 5% ofmarks to SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer)/differently abled under (10+2)+3+2 pattern of courses of study shall be eligible for Ph.D. programme.

11. The candidates who appeared and passed the Qualifying Entrance Examination in July 2022, July 2023 session need not appear for entrance examination in January 2024 session. However they should have to register for Interview/Counselling for admission. Their entrance mark 70% and PG mark 30% will be taken for ranking and merit list.

Selection Process of Qualifying Entrance Exam

1. Candidates will be admitted for Ph.D. programme through a common entrance test for each discipline.
2. Entrance Examination will be conducted in the subjects of Master Degree obtained by the candidate.
3. The entrance exam mark 70% and PG mark 30% will be considered for preparing merit, selection list as per Tamil Nadu Government reservation policy (refer Ph. D. guidelines on website).
4. The entrance examination will be of objective type with a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. The date of examination is 10.03.2024. The details of entrance exam will be provided after 03.03.2024 with a hall ticket.
5. The vacancy against their discipline and Research Supervisors list with their research specialization is displayed in our University website.

How to Apply for Qualifying Entrance Exam?

The Candidates applying Online for QUALIFYING EXAMINATION FOR M.Phil/PH.D should have the following readily available for Entering/Uploading to submit Application.

1. The Mobile No. that will be provided for registering – Ensure you have it in hand to receive OTP. Once the Mobile No. given is registered, it can not be changed. Please do not use any other’s Mobile No.
2. Valid Email ID must be provided mandatorily.
3. Scanned image of Passport size photograph in JPG format of minimum 4kb to 40 kb. The dimension of the photograph should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height).
4. Scanned image of Signature in JPG format of minimum 4kb to 30 kb. The dimension of the signature should be 3.5 cm (width) x 1.5 cm (height).
