Applications are invited for admission in class VI & IX (for Boys only) for the session 2018-19.

Eligibility

A boy is permitted to appear in Entrance Examination only once for the class in which admission is sought. Admission is confined to classes VI & IX for boys of age between 10-11 & 13-14 years respectively (i.e. from 02 Jul 2007 to 01 Jul 2008 for class VI and 02 Jul 2004 to 01 Jul 2005 for class IX).

No relaxation of age limit is permissible under any circumstances. A boy should be VIII pass at the time of admission for class IX.

Admission Procedure

(a) Applicants to apply online from 02 Jan 2018 to 24 Feb 2018 through website sainikschoolnagrota.com and submit requisite fee by online payment mode.

(b) For offline mode, school prospectus with application form can be obtained from the school office on any working day between 0900 and 1600 hrs (Saturday up to 1400 hrs) from 02 January to 16 February 2018 on cash payment of Rs 400/- for General & Defence Candidates and Rs 250/- for SC/ST Candidates OR by sending Demand Draft drawn in favour of Principal Sainik School Nagrota for Rs 450/-for General & Defence candidates and Rs 300/- for SC/ST candidates respectively. Money order and IPO are not acceptable.

(c) Application Form and Prospectus would be issued on individual name and it is not transferable. Forms would not be given to institution/coaching centers. No person is allowed to purchase more than two prospectuses at a time.

(d). The application form complete in all respects must reach the school by 24 February 2018 addressed to Principal Sainik School Nagrota Jammu (J&K) Pin – 181221. The school will not be responsible for rejection of application on account of delay, if any. The list of candidates issued with Admit Cards will be uploaded on school website sainikschoolnagrota.com on 05 April 2018, which can be downloaded by the candidate.

Entrance Examination

( For Class VI & IX )
Admission test for class VI is conducted in English, Hindi and Urdu languages. The test for class IX is held only in English. The entrance test will be conducted on 15 April 2018 (Sunday) at the following centers :-

Interview :
(a) The written test is followed by an interview carrying 50 marks for both classes VI and IX. Boys securing minimum 25% in each subject and 40% in aggregate are eligible to appear for the interview. However, only the shortlisted candidates will be called to appear for interview. Number of shortlisted candidates will be decided keeping in view the number of boys to be admitted in that particular academic session.

The merit list is prepared on the basis of aggregate marks secured in the written test and interview. In case of a tie, marks for mathematics would be considered. In case of a tie again, the marks for English for class IX and Intelligence Test for class VI will be considered and thereafter, the marks for General Science for class IX and Language for class VI.

If a tie still occurs, the boy younger in age will be selected. Merely qualifying in the written test does not confer any right for admission. Boys are selected strictly in accordance with the final merit list. Number of boys to be selected depends on the number of existing vacancies.

(b) The result of written test is published on the school website and in the leading local as well as National newspapers. In addition, those qualify in written examination are intimated individually.

Medical Examination :
All boys, before admission to Sainik School, are medically examined by a Board consisting of Medical Specialists. Standards of health and medical fitness for admission are determined by the standards prescribed for NDA keeping in view the tender age of the boys and scope of their growth.

In case of rejection on medical grounds, the parents can appeal in writing against the decision of Medical Board through the School after paying fee of Rs.100/-(Rs 50/- for SC/ST) for holding a Review Medical board, within 15 days after declaration of medical results.
