SPAV – ADMISSIONS For Doctoral Programme – 2015 :
School of Planning and Architecture Vijayawada, invites applications for an admission into doctoral research programme, for the academic year 2015-16, leading to the award of the degree of Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) with a vision to develop independent and scholarly contribution to the progress of the body of knowledge. The thrust areas of research may be within the broad areas related to Architecture / Planning encompassing all disciplines related to built environment and human settlements.
Eligibility :
Full-Time–Masters Degree in Architecture or Masters Degree in Planning (all disciplines of Planning offered by Planning Schools in India) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (OR) Masters Degree in allied disciplines from any recognized University/Institution with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks and five years of experience in teaching/ research /professional practice in the area of proposed research.
Part-Time – Part-time candidates shall be viewed under two categories:
(i). Part-time (Inhouse): Faculty of the School
(ii) Part-time (Others): Faculty/Professionals from other institutes.
In addition to the above eligibility requirement as mentioned for Full-Time PhD candidates, Part-time candidates should have an additional work experience of five years over that specified above and should obtain a No Objection Certificate from their present employer.
Note: Masters Degree or Post Graduate Diploma through correspondence shall not in any way be eligible. All full time Ph.D. scholars shall be required to teach 8 hours per week and the part-time (others) scholars for atleast 24 hours per semester. However, this is exempted for part time (inhouse) candidates.
Admission Procedure :
** The selection of candidates shall be through an entrance/ written test followed by an open presentation and interview conducted by the School on 17th June 2015.
** The successful candidates will be provisionally admitted.
** However, the registration of the provisionally admitted scholar shall be subject to the successful completion of the coursework offered during the Pre-PhD.
Fellowship / Scholarship :
** The school shall award Fellowship/Contingent Grants to eligible full time candidates only in accordance with the norms laid down by the University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Academic Council of the School from time to time.
** However, the scholars should not have been availing any such Fellowship/Contingent Grants from any other institute or under any scheme.
Application :
** Application forms can be downloaded from the website spav.ac.in.
** Completed application form accompanied by Demand Draft of `1000/- towards processing fee (`500 incase of SC, ST and physically handicapped candidates), in favour of ‘Assistant Registrar (Admissions)’, payable at Vijayawada, superscribing “Application for Admission into PhD” on the envelope and should reach the School by post along with required documents on or before 1st June 2015 by 5.00pm.
** The School shall not be responsible for any postal delays. The Director reserves the right to reject any/all applications, without assigning any reason, whatsoever.
