NISER NEST
National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai.

Both NISER and UM-DAE CEBS were set up by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007. Their mandate is to train scientific manpower for carrying out cutting edge scientific research and for providing input to scientific programmes of Department of Atomic Energy and other applied science institutions in the country.
NEST 2018 will be conducted in around 106 cities [see list] across India. The brochure gives the detailed procedure for applying for the test, syllabus of the test and various dead lines.
NISER, Bhubaneswar and UM-DAE CEBS, Mumbai are in compliance with the UGC and Govt. of India guidelines on anti-ragging. Ragging in any form is a punishable offense and hence is totally prohibited on these campuses. Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must qualify all four eligibility criteria listed below:
** Candidates in General and OBC category should be born on or after August 01, 1998. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ ST/ Physically Disabled (PD) candidates.
** Class XII qualifying examination should be passed in either 2016 or 2017. Candidates appearing in 2018 are also eligible. (Where only Letter Grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admission Committees will be final.)
** At least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%.
** Candidate should secure a position in the NEST merit list.
How to Apply
Keep these handy before starting registration and online application:
i. Class X marks sheet/report card/certificate
ii. Digital copy of passport size photograph in .jpeg or .jpg format (size limit: 80 kb)
iii. Scanned image of your signature in .jpeg or .jpg format (size limit: 80 kb)
Registration
Once you click ‘Apply Online’ button on nestexam.in you will see an intermediate page asking for ‘New Registration’ and ‘Login’. This Registration form will appear in a new tab when you click ‘Get Registered’.
** Once you click ‘Register’
** You will receive a SMS on the mobile no. given with user ID and password.
** An e-mail to the e-mail address
** provided will be sent with link for login page and login credentials. Check your e-mail!
** Your name as it appears in class X marks sheet/certificate
** Date of birth – click on the calendar icon and choose the year, month and date of birth
** Provide a mobile no. that is working and you will have access to
** Login link and login credentials to the application portal will be sent to this email id.
** Enter captcha code as it appears here in the box below
** Click on ‘Register’, once you ensure all the details entered by you are correct
** Roll no./ register no./ seat no. from your class X report card/marks sheet/certificate. Enter only numbers and letters (if any).
Upload Passport Image & Signature
Upload a passport picture and a scanned image of your signature by clicking ‘click
here to upload’ (only .jpeg or jpg extensions are allowed; size of each file should be less
than 80 kb). Photo should have white background and not be older than six months
from the date of application.
Application Fee Payment
Fee details:
General and OBC male: 1000 INR;
Female applicants, SC/ST and PwD category applicants: 500 INR
Application fee payment is collected through SBI payment gateway. You can pay using debit cards/credit cards issued by all major banks or through net banking facility. Note: SBI payment gateway and your bank may collect transaction charges, which are typically 1-3% (depending on the bank) of the application fee.
On successful transaction, the payment gateway page will revert to NEST 2018 application site. DO NOT press refresh or back buttons on the payment page.
Depending on your network speed, it may take a few minutes for the payment gateway page to show success message and reverting back to your NEST 2018 application page. It is advisable to keep the transaction id of the payment written down for easy reference.
In case you do not see a transactions success page on payment gateway page, DO NOT attempt multiple payments. Please check the card holder/account holder’s account summary page from your bank site to verify if money is debited or not. Please refer to the transaction ID and date and time of payment details to helpdesk to resolve issues with payment
Declaration:
Read the declaration and click in the white box next to ‘I agree’, and then ‘submit’. Summary page: A summary page will be generated with all the details entered. This completes your application submission.
