Applications are invited from interested candidates for enrolment in Ph.D. program in Botany from Post Graduate students of Botany (or allied disciplines, subject to endorsement by the concerned Ph.D. Committee).

Maximum up to 40 candidates* will be selected on the basis of merit.
*Reservation in admission shall strictly abide by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2013.
The candidates are advised to download the format of the Application Form from the University website (Admission notification) and submit the filled-in application to the Head, Department of Botany, C.U. after paying Rs. 100/- in cash or demand draft to the cash counter of the University within 30th June 2017. The eligibility of the candidate will be as per UGC rules.
Those who have qualified in NET/SET/SLET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship or already obtained M.Phil/M.Tech/M.Pharm degree would be exempted from the examination as per UGC rules. They are to appear for an interview on the scheduled date.
The test will be of 50 marks of one hour duration. There will be 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQ), each of 1 mark. The list of the finally selected candidates would be posted in the departmental Notice Board.

Date, Time and Venue of Examination: 12th July 2017 at 1.00pm in the Department of Botany, University of Calcutta, 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata – 700019
Declaration of names of candidates eligible for interview: 18th July 2017.
Date of Interview: 22nd July 2017.
Declaration of names of selected candidates: To be notified later (Subject to approval by the Honorable Vice Chancellor)
Course work: 1 (one) Semester (to be notified in due course).
